There is no doubt that the worldwide financial problems have affected property markets and the funding that goes with it. However there are signs that some of the financial crisis is progressing to an improved economy in many countries, and as a result of this there is more confidence in the property market in Europe and further afield. One of the traditional markets is Spain which has been badly affected by over-supply and developers who have taken full advantage of a previously very buoyant market place. However much has been done to resolve the problems in Spain and gradually the over supply situation will be eradicated. There are some real bargains to be had with prices dramatically reduced from even two years ago. Mortgages are not easy to obtain but many of the developers are being creative and supporting the funding with large injections of cash to assist the purchase. Spain has been Europe’s (and particularly the UK) most popular holiday and retirement destination. There is little doubt that with realignment of prices and the work the Spanish government is doing to resolve their problems; we will see the market return and expect growth in the future.

Although the economic climate has had an effect on Portugal, the prices have not reduced as much as other countries. Whilst the market has seen a down turn, there has not been a dramatic fall in prices particularly due to a more realistic build pattern. There are some superb deals available and in certain cases minimal entry costs and creative funding are available. Again this is a very popular destination and a short distance from the UK.

We are continuing to evaluate opportunities in, Turkey, Tunisia and Greece and these destinations will be a regular feature on our website for some months to come. There are particular areas of Morocco that are currently being considered and will be included within our researched projects when we are happy with our due diligence investigations.

Brazil was once associated with high inflation and perennially susceptible to worldwide crisis, now has a vibrant consumer market, investment grade status for its sovereign debt, vast foreign reserves and  an agricultural sector that is vying to supplant that of the United States as the worlds most productive.

The $1.3 trillion Brazilian economy is bigger than those of India and Russia, and its per-capita income is nearly twice that of China. It also ranks highest among all the South American countries and it has also acquired a strong position in global economy.

Recent discoveries by Brazil’s state oil company are expected to make the country one of the biggest crude producers. This coupled with the fact that the FIFA World Cup is being held in Brazil in 2014, together with the Rio Olympics in 2016 evidences that the property market will benefit substantially and must be given serious investment consideration. We are therefore currently looking at several opportunities both in terms of lifestyle and pure investment.
